Which do you think is more important:

Excellent brushing or a healthy diet?

A very interesting question. Since we were little we learned about the importance of brushing our teeth, already in kindergarten we were taught about Karios and Bactus and emphasized the importance of brushing our teeth otherwise we will have holes and our teeth will be destroyed! At the same time, during the meal break we received snacks and sweets without a problem. Poor nutrition but the main thing was to brush our teeth after!

Is this right ?!

Let’s try for a moment to forget everything we were taught, try to think outside the box, look at things from a different point of view.

What causes tooth decay?

Caries develops as a result of an acidic environment with the addition of food debris.

What food residues cause an increase in the acidity in the mouth and the chance of tooth decay?

Soft, sticky foods, carbohydrates and sugars!

The modern Western diet is based on a soft diet high in sugars. There is sugar in everything, even in milk. In addition, it is rich in carbohydrates and sticky foods that nourish more than 60 types of bacteria in the oral cavity and cause an increase in the level of acidity and tooth decay.

If so this is our problem and not brushing our teeth. After all, why cause a problem and then treat it if the problem can be prevented in the first place ?!

So if we eat healthy, there is no need to brush our teeth?

Let’s go a little back, a few hundred years, to the time of ancient man .. History. Did that ancient man have a toothbrush or toothpaste? Certainly not but when they researched this archaeologically of skeletal remains found from the time of ancient man they discovered healthy teeth without caries lesions!

So how do we explain that ancient man had no holes while he never brushed his teeth?

While we brush carefully and still have holes ?!
