Following on from a previous article on completing missing teeth, we mentioned 2 great options for restoring dislocated teeth:

1- Dental implants

2- Dental Bridge

A detailed explanation of these two options in the article at the link at the bottom of this page.

In this article we will explain about the third option for filling in missing teeth.

3. Dentures

Similar to dental implants, dentures can be used for the purpose of filling in missing teeth. Many patients shy away from the idea of dentures because they are afraid that they will fall out of their mouths, this is no longer true. Technological advancement means that modern dentures are completely secure, strong and do not fall.

There are two types of cosmetic dentures – full dentures and partial dentures.

Full dentures are suitable when there are no teeth in the mouth, whereas partial dentures are used when several teeth are missing. Full dentures do not require teeth to stabilize them, although partial dentures do need some teeth to hold them or some implants.

Denture can also be used as a temporary device

Completing missing teeth, why is it important?

On the one hand, a lot of people think we have enough teeth and if we extract one or two teeth nothing will happen because we have enough teeth left to use them. This is usually when it is about a loss of back teeth. When it comes to anterior teeth the ratio is different, usually immediate treatment is required.
On the other hand pay attention, a quarter of people over the age of 60 lose all their teeth and are left with no teeth at all !! Do not wait for it.

It is true that we have 32 teeth and we do not really use all of them, however, note that during the day a large load is applied to the teeth, with an intensity of about 120 kg of chewing power! The teeth work as one unit to withstand this load, are supported and assisted by each other just like a chain, vertebral loss can damage the entire chain. Also do not forget that every tooth has a role, the structure of the teeth is not the same.
