We hear this concept a lot, like everyone has periodontitis. periodontitis is a very common phenomenon, perhaps because of our poor diet or maybe because of the air pollution. We will talk about the causes. The most common symptom of periodontitis is bleeding gums.

There are contraceptives and also solutions.

What Is periodontitis?

It is a periodontal disease (gingivitis), an infection that injures the gums as a result of inflammation. The gums look puffy and red. Bleeding gums is a common symptom especially when touched with a finger or brush while brushing your teeth. Sometimes we suffer from pain as well but most often the disease develops silently without any pain, perhaps some sensitivity or disruption due to bleeding gums and swelling.

What are the signs of periodontitis?

  • Red gums. The natural color of the gums is pink. A change of color indicates a problem.
  • Bleeding gums: Tooth brushing and sometimes even contactless spontaneous.
  • Swelling: local in a specific or general area of the mouth.
  • Pain: A feeling of burning in the mouth and in some situations pain in the teeth and a feeling of a hole in the tooth.
  • Bad breath: As a result of inflammatory secretions.

What are the causes of bleeding gums?

As we have already noted, bleeding gums are the result of a periodontal disease.
Here are the reasons that can cause gum disease.

  1. Plaque:

A bacterial layer that accumulates as a result of poor and ineffective tooth brushing or due to lack of tooth brushing at all. The bacteria cling to the teeth and begin to multiply. Especially in the area between the tooth and the gums. There is a section of free gum in the form of a pocket where the layer of bacteria gathers.

  2. Calculus:

The cumulative plaque on the teeth undergoes mineralization, hardens and becomes calculus. The calculus causes continued irritation to the gums, the irritated gums try to stay away from the irritant and in this way the gingival retreat is caused. You can also notice puffy and red bleeding gums next to the calculus.

  3. smoking:

Smoking causes dry mouth, the decrease in saliva impairs the self-rinsing of the teeth and causes the bacteria to cling to the teeth more easily. In addition, smoking impairs blood flow to the gums and gums “dehydrate” and shrink and teeth are exposed.

  4. Old crowns or restorations:

Causes bacteria and plaque retention. The plaque sticks faster and becomes part of the restoration. In such situations the aggregate tartar does not interfere, some think it is even necessary and should not be removed. Of course this is not true, old crowns and reconstructions can cause many problems, including gingivitis and bleeding gums.

  5. Immune system decline:

There are conditions that you brush well and try hard to maintain your teeth and oral health and yet have periodontal disease. In such situations, systematic involvement should be suspected. Intention of a particular disease or imbalance in the body that affects the immune system and directly causes gingivitis. It is recommended to do blood examinations.

  6. pregnancy:

Pregnancy also has a phenomenon of gingivitis, red bleeding gums and pain. The inflammation in this condition is caused by a hormonal balance violation and also a decrease in the immune system. The body during pregnancy is focused on the fetus that utilizes most of its resources so you must help it. Our recommendation is to ensure effective brushing and daily mouthwash, you will also need to come to check and clean tartar every 3 months.

  7. Genetic Factor:

Genetics does affect all types of teeth and gums as well, but that doesn’t mean that you should give up. good oral hygiene can prevent that.
